How the list works
There are no stars here and there never will be. A number out of five squashes bad food, a slow waiter, one off night and someone's bad mood into the same score, and then everything ends up at 4.2 and you still don't know where to eat.
Every place on here got here one of three ways: a personal visit, a tip from a reader, or a reel or review from a Malaysian food creator. Nothing is added just because it looked popular somewhere else.
Where each one came from
Every listing shows exactly where it came from. If it came from a reel or a post, that link sits right on the listing so you can watch it yourself, and the creator gets the credit and the view, not us. 643 places have a video attached this way.
What we looked up, and what that means
Addresses, opening hours and short descriptions were researched from the open web: Google Maps, Malaysian food blogs, restaurants' own pages. 1568 places now have an address and 1278 have hours.
Anything found that way carries a "looked up, not confirmed" note next to it. Nobody has stood outside these places with a clipboard. Treat the hours as a strong hint, not a promise, and call ahead if you're driving across town.
What we still don't know
- Whether a place is still open. This list spans years and some of these have certainly shut. Ones we've confirmed shut get a "Permanently closed" label; until then, treat "open" as unverified too.
- 17 places have no confirmed area. The original note recorded a name and nothing else.
- Exact prices. The price band is a rough bracket, and where it was worked out from reviews rather than a receipt, it says so.
The photos and the videos
Photos come from Google Maps listings and from Malaysian food blogs, credited where we know the source. Videos are the original Instagram and Facebook embeds, so the person who filmed it keeps the view and the credit. Nothing here is re-uploaded and nothing is generated.
What's coming
Personal vouching comes back with accounts: sign in, mark a place as one you'd actually send a friend to, and it shows on the listing. A vouch will attach to a specific branch rather than the brand, because "all the branches are the same" is a hope, not a fact.
